This Brass Peacock Lamp is popularly known as Kuthu Vilakku.
While Kuthu Vilakku is lit to signify the beginning of any event or occasion. It signifies the three Gods Bramha, Vishnu and Shiva who are believed to be present in the Vilakku (lamp). At the base part is Bramha, the middle part Vishnu and the broad part on top is Shiva.
This has now been used widely as part of the decoration as well in pre-wedding and wedding ceremonies.
